How to get your apartment ready for Fall
It’s finally fall! Move over summer, cause it’s time for apple picking, cool autumn nights, bonfires, and s’mores. Fall is nature’s last hurrah before winter, so you need to enjoy it while you can. One of the best ways to get into the season is to make your home extra cozy, from updating your throw pillows to making everything smell like cinnamon. We’ve gathered some of our favorite ways to get your apartment ready for the season, check it out below!
Update your pillows
Pillows are the unsung heroes of your living room. From giving you something to hug while watching a scary movie, to being the perfect addition to any couch fort, pillows are the little accents that make all the difference. So update them for the season! We suggest getting a variety of holiday-themed pillow cases instead of seasonal pillows so you can easily change them out without having to dedicate a closet to the other unused seasons.
Get the right candles
As much as we love the smell of lilacs and linen, they have no place in this season. Bring on the vanilla, pumpkin, nutmeg, and allspice! Smell is the sense most linked to memory, so the best way to get everyone in the fall mindset is with some great, fall scented candles.
Cook!
Candles are all well and good, but nothing matches the scent of a freshly cooked meal. So get in the kitchen! Every season has its own quintessential menu, but they all pale in comparison to the menu of fall. Pies like apple and pumpkin alone are enough to get you excited, but there’s also butternut squash soup, pot roast, and so much more to get your home smelling incredible.
Get the blankets ready
Does anything say fall more than getting cozy under a blanket and watching Hocus Pocus for the 50th time? We don’t think so! So get rid of those airy summer blankets and get some comfy flannel throws, warm faux fur, and cozy fleece blankets that you know will keep you snug all fall and into winter.
Change your color palette
Each season has its own color palette. Winter has darker earthen greens and blues, spring is for bright, pastel colors, summer gets bright greens, and fall has rich oranges, reds, and yellows. Don’t go into this season with last season’s colors! Change out what textiles and accents you can for the beautiful rusty palette of autumn.
Bring out the pumpkins
While fall has many icons, nothing quite matches the pumpkin. So get them while you can! Mini-pumpkins are perfect for table centerpieces, big round ones flank your front door, and cute ones can grace your window sills. Complete with some fall florals, and your home will be ready for the season!
